When my mom found out she was pregnant with me, she was rehearsing the role of Hedy La Rue in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. My dad played Bud Frump.
So probably through osmosis, I fell in love with the theatre before I knew what it was or how it got made. But I did learn quickly that theatre is to be treasured and celebrated as a truly miraculous art form that brings people ... and communities together.
I did a lot of theatre in my youth. My parents were deeply involved in theatre education, ran an Equity stock theatre and were leaders at our local, community theatre. I like to think I spent as much time sitting under the director's table as I did on the stage!
I've spent over fifteen years moving up the media and marketing career ladder, leading brands to execute innovative marketing campaigns across print, digital, video, eCommerce, social media and Influencer marketing.
I won some awards along the way for content produced for Proctor & Gamble, Nestle Foods, Purina, Verizon, Johnson & Johnson among others during tenures with Teen People, Parents.com, Scholastic.com and at Triad Retail Media, Walmart.com's agency-of-record.
I never stopped applying what I learned in for-profit marketing to strengthen nonprofit arts organizations close to my heart. I've collaborated on digital marketing and digital content strategy for organizations like Camp Broadway, Ken Davenport Productions, Farmers Alley Theatre, Public Media Network, Portage Public Schools, Western Michigan University School of Music, and Kalamazoo Civic Theatre to name a few.
Most academic theatre programs and small theatres don't have robust marketing teams to keep up with the lightening pace of digital marketing. My mission is to empower you so digital marketing feels less scary, overwhelming and totally achievable for your organization's productions.
